December 18th Museologist's Day, a date established by presidential decree on May 31, 2004, during the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The objective is to honor museology professionals and recognize the importance of this profession, regulated by Law No. 7,287 of December 18, 1984 and by Decree 91,775 of October 15, 1985. Museologists are responsible for the administration and organization of collections, involving activities such as curation, conservation, education and research. They play a vital role in promoting culture and education, making collections accessible to the public and enhancing cultural heritage.
