There were those who preferred that the name of the club honor a renowned Brazilian such as Santos Dumont or Carlos Gomes. Corinthians was founded by a group of humble workers. The first Corinthians uniforms were cream colored. The shade, however, faded easily after washing, and as there was no money to replace the fabric, it was decided to adopt white as the official color. *
