The first idea was to name Flu as Rio Football Club, but the chosen name ended up being Fluminense. ”Flumen” means “river” in Latin. Fluminense has a marked difference in relation to the three rivals of Rio de Janeiro: it was the only one of the big four to be born focused on the practice of football.
